Twas the day before Christmas, when all through the house,
Not a child was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by a cute vinyl sign with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.
The children were all nestled all snug in "mom's bed",
While visions of breakfast and being waited on danced in their heads.
And momma in her fleece jammies and dad in his scrubs,
Had just settled down for some DVR time and some cuddles and hugs.
From the quiet and peace of the kids there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from the couch to see what was the matter.
Away to the bedroom we flew like a flash,
Opened the door and let out a gasp!
The kids who were tucked in and quiet as can be,
had started to fight and wrestle you see!
With the tree adorned with presents to be opened the next day,
the kids begged to open one,
and promised to obey!
Braden the mischievous was dressed in camo from his neck to his waist,
He opened those Christmas Jammies and knew his momma had great taste.
Layla the youngest who seemed to always be half dressed,
opened her jammies just to realize they should have been a bigger size than momma guessed.
(They were later cut off her arms with scissors)!
Their eyes how they twinkled, their dimples how merry!
their cheeks were like roses and their noses like cherries.
The youngest one had a broad face and a little round belly, that shook when she laughed like a bowlful of jelly.
She was chubby and plump a right jolly young self, and I laughed when I saw her in spite of myself.
A wink of dad's eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know it was time for good kids to go to bed.
The night was long and there were many attempts to peak,
even little Braden said he had only lost his sock and was not trying to sneak.
The morning came and the kids did awake,
To see that Santa had went straight to his work and was not a fake.
The stockings were filled and the toys were laid out,
Smiles filled the face of the Bracken kids, they were happy no doubt.
Momma was happiest and that's for sure,
Because Santa had remembered pink presents and Layla showed her love by taking her stroller on tour.
Hungry hippo was a favorite of BMan we know,
cause he made every one play, but it was evident he was the pro!
With a sleigh full of toys, Santa knew best,
This was the last time this bike of BMans saw a rest!
Jake and Dad sprang to their gifts and let out a shout,
What's better than a 17? Jake said, "his 22 without a doubt".
The day continued to be great and there were guns to be shot,
then up to Enterprise to hang with the rest of the family they did trot.
At the end of the day, I heard the Brackens exclaim....
as they drove out of sight,
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
