Through the eyes of a child....

It is so interesting to see the perspective of death from a 6 yr old. In the past few months our little 6 yr old has gone through a lot. With the birth and passing away of our little Jesse to his Aunt Marilyn passing away and last weekend Grandpa Pollock passed away. Jake has asked a lot of questions about death and is really quite comfortable with the whole idea. When Aunt Marilyn died he was mostly concerned who would make necklaces with him and when Grandpa Pollock died he just said, now he is in Heaven with Jesse.

I didn't realize he was still thinking about this until yesterday when he brought me this picture. Let me interpret: The family below the rainbow is us (Dad, Mom, Jake & Braden). The people in Heaven are Uncle Jake, Aunt Marilyn, Jesse and Grandpa Pollock. He drew Jesus on the right of them but the picture is to light you can't tell. My favorite part of this picture is the 4th person in Heaven (Grandpa Pollock), for those of you who knew him know he was missing fingers and Jake made sure that his three fingers were showing in this picture, nobody else even got a hand. After Jake handed me this picture he asked me, "mom who else do we know that had died". He just wanted to add more people in Heaven, I am glad that he knows that when we die we go to Heaven and we are with the other people we love. Oh the lessons we learn from kids.
