Once upon a time there was a little family that had a week off and wondered to themselves, "whatever should we do"? The thought of staying in hot Mesquite was frightening to the mother of this little family, for entertaining in the house was not her forte. Her children needed to explore and busy themselves with scenery because at home they sometimes resorted to fighting and constant technology for entertaining.

The mother talked to the father and thought exploring the Oregon Coast and visiting family in Portland would be just the right way to end the summer. So off the little family went (but not before calling grandma and grandpa and inviting them to tag along as well).

This little family flew in without a hitch, kids were good people did not stare, seats on the plane were not banged 100 times and no one lost their temper. Arriving in Oregon the anticipation of meeting up with the lovely Mcomies was soaring. So off to a town called SISTERS we went. (Named for the 3 peaks - you guessed it called sisters). We couldn't but help feel the similarities of this small town and Park City, just a little smaller and a little more red neck!

The happy little family loved the little shops and seriously thought about selling their home when they returned and raising the boys as mountain men.

The vote was not unanimous so they opted out for stories by the river by grandpa instead. Stories of long ago and the mountain men that settled this here valley! (I think this is what the stories were about).
The adventure continued and the darling little family minus the lovely husband gained knowledge of amphibious creatures at the fish hatchery, (wait a minute fish are fish not amphibians, or are they?) In the meantime the dad of this family did a little studying of his own and went fishing for a more in depth look at the fish! (By the way I just googled and fish are fish not amphibians, probably something the mom of this family learned in 2nd grade and forgot).

The day was lovely the company great but with so much to see how could we possibly stay late?
Off to the hotel for a good nights sleep then in the car to begin the exploring.
The grandma of the family was such a gem for she watched the youngest while the little family hiked the black Lava Rock at the observatory. The family loved the lava and loved the fort but the windy road down the canyon in the car made at least two people a little green in the face.
The leader of the family thinks he moves mountains, we will let him keep thinking!
The oldest son follows in his cocky ways and had to beat everyone up the fort, including some kid who didn't even know he was in a race!
This little family just kept on traveling until out of necessity they stopped to pee (oops I mean treats). They turned off on a road and discovered an old pioneer cemetery and lots and lots of bushes of wild ripe blackberries. No one enjoyed them more than the middle son, with glee upon his face and juice stained hands he celebrated this pee stop with lots and lots of blackberries.

The little family again continued on their way but not for long, about 10 min later the blackberries that were oh so good, decided to pay a 2nd visit in the car, when the middle child decided to throw them up. This made for a perfect air freshener for the rest of the trip. We are so glad he enjoyed so many.

Down the road this family approached the coast, the weather was cool and the family knew this felt better than the "hair dryer" they had just left a couple of days ago. The road trip brought so many sights to see, a whale in the ocean and a bunch of sea lions like these!

The sea lions were so amazing the mom of the family thought she should risk the life of her middle son so that he could get a better view.
The sea lion caves were a sight indeed but further down the road the dad of the family spotted a whale and we all stopped to see. The beach was explored and the mountain men turned into pirates hiding away in driftwood caves.
To be continued...........

Oregon is beautiful. You guys are gypsies.

This new job probably means we will be here forever but it also means that we will be able to visit our family and friends in Utah more often. WaHoo!
