How do you know when your kids are getting older?
Well besides the "tween" attitude and acne there is this thing called priorties!
Let me explain...
My brother Brad (last minute notice, that's how he rolls) got married to Chelsey (they have been in love since they were 14). So, "last minute notice", we headed up North. Rand could not get off work and Jake had the 5th grade playground olympics.
What is the 5th grade olympics?
It's a major event, it involves three elementary schools and a lot of 5th graders.
It's a right of passage really. It's what a 5th grader has dreamed about since kindergarten and the thought of missing this one time event is dreadful. Because Rand had to stay home, Jake was thrilled that he could attend his moment in time as a "playground olympian"!
Our family was divided - and so it begins.
The little kiddos and I went to the wedding and the aquarium up North and Jake stayed to become a champion among champions.
We had fun with Nana,
and,
We loved seeing Brad, Chelsey and Jett!
and,
Kenny Savannah and Gage
Jake on the other hand was in Mesquite fulfilling his dreams.
He not only found himself living the dream but became a gold medalist in.
"not" basketball, running or 4 square........
BUT......
He was untouchable in tether ball!
He didn't loose a match!
I guess you gotta live out your dreams when you are in 5th grade!
