Where in the world is.........

Fallon NV!  I know you are all dying to know!  This is how you get to Fallon NV!

1st - Leave Mesquite and head to Vegas, make sure all children are in the car.  Try not to forget the promised "El Rancho" donuts or children will start the whining and complaining early.

2nd - Realize that there is not a lot of stops on the Highway you will be traveling on (aka the Loneliest HWY -seriously it is called this).  Stop in Moapa, NV for gas just to make sure you can make it to the next town.

3rd - Make sure that you run into a long lost friend at the Moapa gas station,  it really adds an element of surprise and a little bit of cheer to the 8 hr long drive.  Thanks Katie Harris for being where we were at the right time, we miss you so much!

4th - Stop children from whining by promising them doughnuts at the next bakery we come to along the way!

5th - Smile when you enter a town called "Alamo NV" that didn't even show up on the GPS.  Just for fun stop at a gas station / grocery store that looks like a cement fort on the outside.  Laugh hysterically when as you enter the door the smell of yummy, fresh, hot donuts invites you in further to realize you have just found the cutest little bakery/ mini WalMart in all of NV.  Enjoy the excitement of your children as they realize that dad's promise to stop at the next bakery was not a lie!  (Who knew)

6th - Find the cutest bed and breakfast with trail rides included.   Mark it down to visit in the future.

7th - Continue on road trip until you hit a cross roads.  This sign will help you decide where to turn.  Take it (although scary, Rand assured me we were going the right way).

8th - If there is any confusion whether you are on the Extra Terrestial Hwy, this next landmark you come to will reassure even the non believers that you have not ventured off course.

9th - By the 5th hour, Layla will prove that she is determined to not miss one minute of this road trip and we soon find out that an apple keeps her happy for another 45 minutes.  (So continuing on with directions, if all you have seen is gray dirt and funny road signs with cows that look like Spanish Bull Crossings you are still headed to Fallon NV).

10th - Enter the town of Hawthorne NV - (Kick myself for not taking pictures) but you will know you are in Hawthorne if you feel anxiety of the entire town blowing up at one time.  Hawthorne is a city that houses hundreds of bunkers (that look like fields of big gopher mounds) that just happen to house live ammunition.

11th -  Arrive in Fallon NV!  Why in the world did we go to Fallon NV.........Rand had a few work related things to do and so we tagged along.

I have traveled that road many times by myself; heading to Winnemucca.
